Shoebox Sunday Header

Vladimir was 9 years old when he lost his parents.

A few years later he received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox whilst living in an orphanage. He described the moment he and the other children were handed their boxes:

Vladimirs ShoeboxThey gave out our shoeboxes. They said “OK, you can open the box!” It was so awesome. Everyone’s face just lit up as they began to open their boxes and look at each gift inside. When I finally looked inside my box I found colouring books, pencils, and markers. But the one toy that really stood out to me was the toy car that I received.

Millions of children like Vladimir receive shoeboxes every year, and at New City Church we have been packing and sending our own shoeboxes for the last four years.

Shoebox Sunday

Come and help us fill 100 shoeboxes in support of the annual Operation Christmas Child appeal, to send to needy children all over the world!

On Shoebox Sunday (5th November from 2.30pm) you can find out about where your shoebox might go and how it could travel there as you pack your shoebox. Your shoebox could be the only present a deprived child receives all year – so come and help us make a difference.

We are asking for £5 for the shoebox making activity, as it takes this much to ship each shoebox. The contents of the shoeboxes will be provided free of charge by church members and through donations from various local businesses.

Why not come back the following week on Sunday 12th November, and join us at 10.30am for a special Shoebox Celebration Service? We will be celebrating the number of shoeboxes we have managed to create and praying for the children who receive them.

All proceeds will go directly to the Operation Christmas Child appeal.

We look forward to seeing you!
