Regardless of how you voted or your views on the issues, the matter is now settled. Great Britain will leave the European Union.

And now begins the process of seeking a way forward…

In the first instance, the Conservative Party will be seeking a new leader who will become the new Prime Minister.

Then, the Government will be seeking to negotiate our way out of the EU, with new trade deals and all the rest.

Businesses will be seeking reassurance about their interests.

Families and individuals will be seeking clarification about how Brexit will affect their finances.

Workers will be seeking answers about their jobs and rights.

Scotland may well be seeking a second independence referendum.

All of us have a right to be worried about the future and to be seeking certainty amidst the uncertainty.

But if we really want certainty and assurance about the future there is really only one place to look for it. It is not found in a united Europe, or in the United Kingdom, or certain political parties or their leaders.

True peace, security, and assurance can only be found in the Kingdom of God where Christ rules as King, and where he guarantees a place in the Kingdom of God through faith in his sin-defeating death and death-defeating resurrection.

As Jesus said in Matthew 6:31-33:

“Do not worry, saying, –What shall we eat?’ or –What shall we drink?’ or –What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Where are you looking for peace and certainty today?
